Starting my business, was a leap of faith.

Full of ideas, but knowing little about running a business, I launched Open Line Communications in 2015 with my partner Jill Matcham.

I was scared.

I’ve never looked back.

We’ve worked hard and we’ve grown. We’ve faced obstacles and challenges, and most recently – like everyone – found ways to pivot during the pandemic.

The barriers for women entrepreneurs are real. On top of gender bias and systemic discrimination, many women entrepreneurs face barriers to financing, services, and supports. For women entrepreneurs from underrepresented groups, such as racialized and Indigenous women, those living with disabilities, or those identifying as LGBTQ2S+ – these challenges are intensified.

That’s why we are so pleased and proud to be certified by WBE Canada – a Canadian non-profit organization that is opening doors for Canadian women-owned businesses to supply chains across North America. This means that Open Line has successfully met the eligibility criteria for certification as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE) as required by corporate and government supplier diversity programs.

We are thrilled to be part of this community, and look forward to the many opportunities to connect with other Women Business Enterprises, corporations and government organizations to provide our products and services.

It’s a great way to start a new year.
